Six Degrees
Do you remember that old film Six Degrees of Separation, from the 90's that is based on the principle that any two people are connected by six or fewer social connections? For me, this past week has been an amazing demonstration of how very connected people already are. I decided to stay in Lawrence for a while to make it easier to access doctor's appointments and rehab. A friend called a friend and in no time, Anil had offered me the town home that belongs to his parents, who are on vacation. Anil and his partner at the time, Clementine, had lived at TLC about 15 years ago and he wanted to return the favor. Then I met my next door neighbors here, Sam and Teri, and quickly discovered that Sam is the son of a another friend, Jeff. Jeff and my dear friend, Hilary are partners and Hilary had already been coming to bring me wonderful healing chicken soup! So here I am staying next door to their grandchildren, meaning they would be visiting often. My granddaughter, Jasmyn, has been staying with me to help me out while healing, and she quickly discovered that she and Sam had been good friends in high school. Laura lives upstairs and she once lived at TLC too. And Sharon as well. Jim and Diane are dear friends I have known since before I started TLC and they live right here in the same complex too. And so it goes, way beyond six degrees of separation in a matter of days! When the connections show up with such synchronicity, it really gets my attention!
What if these times of great turmoil and change, are actually times of bringing all of us into greater connection? Do you see it in the streets? Do you experience it in your neighborhood or circles of friends? Do you feel it when you sit in a meditation circle? I have been feeling an increase in the intensity of the net of energy vibrations that link us all together. The more each person is aware of the many ways we are all connected, the stronger that net of energy becomes. That seems like a better place to focus attention, rather than on the many distressing disturbances all around us. It matters where we focus attention because that thought energy sends the creative force wherever it is focused.
For quite some time I have been following Julie Krull in The Connection Field. ( See the Dr. Julie Show Podcast, All Things Connected.) These words came into my email from Julie this week:
“Dear One,
Your voice is not just yours.
It carries echoes of the cosmos.
It vibrates with the memory of wholeness.
Speak not to be heard—
but to let love move through you.
Speak not to lead—
but to leave a trail of resonance for others to follow.
Your words are not decoration.
They are seeds of new realities.
Speak gently. Speak boldly.
Speak the world into coherence.”
Let's strengthen those six degrees of separation and see what we can bring into manifestation,
