WWOOF WITH US
WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) is a global movement that connects volunteers with organic farms and growing spaces. Through educational exchange and hands-on experiences, WWOOFers learn about sustainable agriculture, contribute to meaningful projects, and deepen their connection with the earth and others.
As part of WWOOF-USA, volunteers gain:
Practical skills in organic gardening and ecological building
A chance to live and work in community
Direct contribution to the global sustainability movement
What is WWOOF?
What WWOOFing Looks Like at TLC
You’ll likely find yourself working on one or more of the following:
Gardening: Weeding, watering, transplanting, preparing beds, and composting
Construction Projects: Working with strawbale, aircrete, wood framing, painting, sealing, and finishing interior spaces
Land Stewardship: Mowing, clearing trails, managing invasive species, splitting wood, and maintaining our paths and campsites
Creative Collaboration: We welcome artists, visionaries, and builders of all kinds
We ask for 20–24 hours per week of work trade. In return, you'll have space to deepen your personal path, connect with nature, and learn regenerative practices.
Important Notes
You must be able to work independently and respectfully in a community setting
We do not allow drugs or alcohol on site, and our community agreements must be honored
No pets allowed
We practice organic, permaculture-based methods

The Light Center & WWOOF
Located on 95 acres of serene woods in rural Kansas, The Light Center is a nonprofit sanctuary dedicated to personal and spiritual growth, ecological stewardship, and regenerative farming. We’ve been a host site on WWOOF for many years, welcoming helping hands and kindred spirits to co-create with the land.
We are in an exciting time of growth as we celebrate 30 years as an all-volunteer nonprofit. There’s much to do — and much to learn.
Our WWOOFers have helped build earthbag domes, tended gardens, laid strawbale walls, harvested from the land, and supported the rhythm of life here.
